I was tasked with crafting the feature image and overall branding for the 2021 New Zealand Game Developers Conference hosted at Te Papa Museum in Wellington. My selection for this design project was influenced by my illustrative style, characterized by impactful block shapes and vibrant colors. Beyond the featured art, my responsibilities extended to creating a cohesive suite of materials, including social media announcement templates, speaker slides, event passes, merchandise, and posters.

The theme guiding this year's event is "adapt," a concept resonating with the widespread adjustments prompted by recent global events, particularly the post-COVID landscape. In capturing the essence of adaptation, I visually conceptualized it as the capacity for change, represented by a character opening her mind to facilitate the flow of ideas and knowledge.

In a departure from the established norm of using subdued blue and teal tones, this year's design stands out boldly with the infusion of vibrant purple and red hues. This deliberate departure not only distinguishes the event from its predecessors but also inject a fresh and distinctive vibrancy into the overall visual identity.

Every slide boasts a distinct design, featuring abstract floating shapes that are simplified renditions of the showcased art. These shapes serve as a visually engaging frame for the slide information, adding a touch of artistic flair to the presentation. Moreover, the design approach extends to the event passes, with each pass type - full, one-day, or member - distinguished by a specific color code. This intentional color differentiation ensures quick and easy identification, streamlining the event experience for attendees.

Being chosen to design this year's NZGDC was truly an honor. Witnessing my work come to life at the event was a gratifying experience, and I was fortunate to be invited to attend and see the impact of the design firsthand.
